50 Has 3 More Songs Up His Sleeve For Retail Album

DJ Whoo Kid announced on his show that the leaked version of Curtis is not the one set for release week. Apparently there are three tracks that weren't on the version available on line, one of which that will 'change hip-hop'...interesting! Could 50 hook up with Jay or Nas or D-Block for a track? Who knows...

I'm still sceptical about this as artists often announce shit like this after an album leak to still try and drum up interest for the final release copy. It could even just be the megastar remix of 'I Get Money' that we've been hearing about. By the way, when is that getting released?

Common And Q-Tip Are The Standard

I've been waiting on a new solo album from Q-Tip for a minute now, but this is interesting...

In an exclusive interview with xxlmag.com, A Tribe Called Quest frontman, Q-Tip, reveals he’s forming a new group with Common entitled The Standard. “Me and Common [are] getting ready to form a group. We’ll probably run it through the Uni [Universal Records] joint because we’re both on Universal.”
According to The Abstract, it was Common who suggested the two from a group. “It was more of his suggestion,” he says. “He was like, “We just need to do a record.” So I’m really excited about that.” While the two haven’t started recording together yet, The Standard will start churning out material once the two starting touring together in a few weeks. As far as the production on the album, though, fans can expect Q-Tip to handle the majority. “I’m probably gonna do a lot of it,” ‘Tip says. “And we’ll get Kanye [West] on a couple things, but you know, that cat is busy.”

We Miss You...

It's six years down the line and I still find it hard to believe that she's not with us anymore. She well and truly was one of the best talents around, and was destined for great things. But, as we know, God works in mysterious ways; often leaving us questioning the events of the world.

Looking at the year that Timbaland has had and the tracks he's created with all these people, I find myself thinking what would it be like if she was still here because you know she'd be rockin' those beats. She truly was an incredible talent and it's so disappointing to know that she is not here to shine like we know she would.

Many come and go but there will only be one Aaliyah. Take time to listen to Jay-Z's dedication and remember her and any loved ones of your own, we miss you all...

They found 12 distressed dogs on the property, as well as the remains of three burned carcasses and a cache of "assault-style" type of weapons.

In addition to the half-pound of suspected drugs, police said several cars had licensed plates that could not be traced.

Of the 12 dogs recovered, only two dogs were pit bulls, the rest a type of mastiff, police have clarified.

While police have admitted that there is no indication that the dogs were used in fights, Sgt. Sherry Beckley said that when police found the dogs, they were very thin and malnourished.

Here Comes That Light Again...

Those of you that have been here around long enough will remember my build up to Common's latest album Finding Forever in which I was likening him so a saviour of this thing we call music.

After enduring one of the poorest year's of music in a while, filled with ringtone rappers and Konvict music hooks, Common proved to be the light at the end of the darkened tunnel. The album came and went much quicker than I thought; maybe I was just masked by the need for that quality music. The album was very good, but I think I was putting it in that place in the hope that it was the album to fulfil my needs. Don't get me wrong, I'm still bumping tracks from it now, 'The People' still gets one of my nomination's for song of the year.

By now you may be asking: 'Why the Alicia Keys picture?'

No, it's not cos of how good she looks at her recent TRL appearance. She's that next ray of light I can see at the end of the tunnel. For now she is concentrating on her acting career, having already impressed with her performance in 'Smoking Aces' she is now set to star in upcoming movie 'The Nanny Diaries'. She has already been getting rave reviews for the new film, proving just how multi-talented she is. Anyway, the music! The new album is finally on the way and the single is done. She recently posted a short piece about it on her blog...

'The single is called “No One” and I’m LOVING IT!!! I hope it’s a bit unexpected and something that completely surrounds you, engulfs you and sweeps you away. I hope it makes you feel good and strong and passionate and makes you scream the words at the top of your lungs. I hope it does things to you!!!!'

Sounds like one of those deep songs of hers, I can't wait for this album. The R'n'B side of things, like Hip Hop, has been a bit lame recently, forcing me to go old school and listen to my jams from yester-year. Keep checking back for when the single drops...

The Album Featuring Wayne Is Upon Us...

Little Brother had a listening session last night for their forthcoming album, Get Back, and you know what that meant...people got to hear new music from one of Hip Hop's best ever groups? No, people finally got to hear the much anticipated track featuring Lil' Wayne, 'Breakin' My Heart'. Only a select few lucky enough to be invited to the listening, one of which was TSS's Jimmy Valentine, who described the track as "a cross between 'Prostitute' and his freestyle on 'Promise'". This whole hook up between LB and Wayne reminds me of the uniting of Dead Prez and Jay-Z on the 'Hell Yeah' remix, I just hope it's as promising as that. Check the video below of Phonte discussing how they and Wayne crossed paths in the first place.

Sad as it may be, their latest album has already been over shadowed by the track featuring Hip Hop's new golden boy. It's great for Little Brother, in that it has helped shine extra light on them and their project, but I question how many people will turn up just to sample the one track. The gift and the curse indeed...

Give me 9th Wonder back over Weezy any day...

Six Months In The Life Of Kanye West

A journalist from The Observer Music Monthly recently got the chance to spend six months with Kanye West. During the time spent with him, covering Japan, England and the US, he experienced the making of Graduation, Kanye's 30th birthday, his performance at the Diana concert, his temper tantrums and his boastful attitude.

It's a really interesting read and gives you a real insight into the life and mind of Mr. West, so give it a look if you can. I've picked out some of the more interesting points from the piece below...

Tracks on Graduation:

"There's 'Homecoming' a collaboration with Chris Martin, based around a piano motif on which the Coldplay frontman sings 'Do you think about me now and then?/ 'Cause I'm coming home again'; a track called 'The Good Life' that samples Michael Jackson's 'PYT'; and a moodier number about messing with 'drunk and hot girls', which, I find out later, is called 'Drunk And Hot Girls'."

Concerns about the album:

"Kanye and A-Trak discuss Graduation with surprising frankness. 'All I'm saying,' A-Trak shrugs at one point, 'is where's your 'Diamonds'? I suspect the DJ is one of the extremely select few allowed any criticism of Kanye."

Kanye's creative and meticulous ways:

"[As a child] he rarely made things the right colour. He would make the banana purple and the orange blue. Little seems to have changed. Kanye gets increasingly frustrated when the pastel camouflage design doesn't match his vision. 'No, no!' he complains to the interpreter, almost stamping his foot in frustration."

On him as an artist:

"'I'm an artist people love to hate' he shrugs, 'Even if they love me sometimes they just like to talk shit about me because there are very few artists who stand up for what they believe in.'"

The reaction to 'Can't Tell Me Nothing':

"He tells me it's proved more popular 'in the hood' than any of his previous tracks. 'People say to me, 'What do you mean, coming back with a song like that?' he chuckles. 'I said: "That's exactly what I mean: you can't tell me...NUTHIN!" He almost growls the last word."

Kanye on meeting the U.K. Princes:

"One of them said: 'I thought those glasses were bling' and the other one said: 'It's Kanye West, they'd have to be bling' he chuckles later. I didn't have the heart to tell them that I'm the anti-bling."

The recording process of 'Stronger':

"Even though a version of Stronger has already gone to radio he's spent weeks tweaking it further. He's now worked on the track with eight different engineers around the world, and recorded over 50 versions."

On the competition with 50 Cent:

"It's more important for me to be involved in an event than to say I had a number one album. If I come out a week no one else is out and go to number one people will be like 'Whatever...' but if I come out the same week as 50 and go to number two people will be excited, 'How close are the numbers? I need a recall!'"

Kanye Goes To Rehab...

Kanye paid tribute to Amy Winehouse yesterday during his performance at the V Festival. He was performing on the main stage at the festival, in Chelmsford, when he did a shout out to Winehouse, who was absent due to her *wink wink* 'health problems.

Kanye said "I know you wanna hear this, so I'm gonna play this for you," before his DJ A-Trak played a few bars of 'Rehab'. Members of the audience were given paper versions of those stupid shutter sunglasses he persists on wearing, to wear during the show. There was also a massive inflatable College Dropout bear there with the sunglasses on too (peep the photo).

I wouldn't have dreamed that I'd ever give this G-Unit upstart his own post, but here I find myself doing that exact thing.

I recently ran across this track, produced by none other than Mr. Kanye West, the latest in a string of hook ups between West and G-Unit camp (keep your eyes open for the upcoming Roling Stone cover), and was pleasantly surprised at what I heard. The vast majority of the tracks I've heard from him so far have had me querying 50's decision to sign him to the label. We all know that G-Unit is in need of something...something to kickstart that movement again. Sadly, Buck's latest effort this year was largely under-appreciated, when really it was easily one of the best released.

Breakin' You Off...

What's up people? I'm back and I'm here with a rather large update for you. Music updates have been slow of late, just because of the poor stuff that's being put out. This Girl Can Sang...

One album I'm really looking out for is Keyshia Cole's follow up to her debut 'The Way It Is'. Her second album 'Just Like You' is due to come out September 25th and features production from Kanye, Scott Storch and Brian Michael Cox. She currently has the first single featuring Lil' Kim and Missy Eliot in rotation, which is a nice track, but fails to truly show Keyshia's vocal ability.

Let me tell you...I saw this girl live when she was the support act for Kanye's Touch The Sky tour and my word, can this girl sing. She performed 'Love' from her debut album, and I was literally speechless at just how phenomenal her vocal performance was. So, I'm truly hoping for more of the same from her upcoming project.

As for now, it's remix time! T.I. and Young Dro are recruited for this one...

Still Not Convinced...

When you release songs everyday of the week and feature on just about everybody else's tracks, like Wayne has been doing recently, you run the risk of oversaturation. Not only that, you also run the risk of exhausting your musical capacity. Dont get me wrong, there have been artists down the years that have been able to churn out the music non-stop whilst maintaining that consistency; Tupac was notorious for virtually living in the studio.

However, with Lil' Wayne, I'm not so sure. Don't get me wrong, the boy got talent, but I'd much rather him conserve the music and make us fiend for it. Cos at the moment, I never feel any anticipation for a new Wayne track (except the album), they just appear and they're not always him at his pinnacle.

The Untouchable

I've been sleeping on this mixtape for the last couple of days but I finally got a chance to listen to it tonight. It's a collection of Jay-Z songs and verses mixed with new production and new featuring artists, which results in some very nice tracks. It's not as good as Jay's previous Soled Out mixtape which is a must for your collection if you don't already have it but it's certainly worth a listen.

Come Share Baby And Wayne's 'Monumental Moment'...

When the cover of XXL's 10th anniversary was released a few weeks back it created alot of controversy but also raised few eyebrows. The photo featured the rappers shirtless in all their tattooed glory with as much gaudy jewellery hanging from their necks as possible.

With the release of the actual magazine, more photos from the shoot have surfaced, but what makes them even more hilarious is the pair's description of them.

Baby's view on the pictures:

“The pictures we took yesterday were monumental, I never done no shit like that, as far as being exposed to the world. What we showed was our pain, our gain, our losses, our loyalty. I think that’s the most prominent pictures you could ever put on that muthafucka.”

Lil' Wayne's response:

“A picture speaks a thousand words. I think that one speaks loudest.”

The interview itself features some important issues regarding both artists, including upcoming projects, as well as going into the history of Cash Money too, which I found to be the most interesting stuff.

Baby on the early years at Cash Money:

"I thought we were too big [to be] independent, and it was time for growth. I didn’t really know what to expect, but I knew that they was able to get us a vision that we never had. I knew we could go scramble in the streets, because that’s how we made our music—through the streets and just grinding out ourselves."

Wayne confirms the 2008 release of Tha Carter III:

"2008, baby, here we come. Carter 3! Gotta make ’em wait. Gotta make ’em want you… I never go in the studio and say, “We recording this.” I just say, “Carter 3,” on the beginning of the song if it’s a Carter 3 song. I record every day, every chance I can."

Wayne on how he does collaborations:

"E-mailed around. It’s only because it’s a difference with asking Lil Wayne to get on your song. He gon’ say… He gonna say, “Send it.” He gonna say, “Send it right now.” He gonna send it right back. That’s different. Instead of asking, “Can I get?” and then have a meeting, you gotta set it up. It’s like, “My e-mail is such and such, what’s yours?” And I send it right back."

Wayne on his new found acclaim:

"Like, you could just be great. I’d rather just be great. The world’s too different right now for record sales… It ain’t even about that no more. Come on. The people on the radio all day ain’t selling a million copies. And the people that is selling a million copies is, who? Who’s going five, six million? Nobody."

Damn, this went from a Baby and Lil' Wayne interview to simply another Lil' Wayne interview regarding TC III. Also, 50 might have something to say about tha last comment too.

Pause For A Legend...

For those that wanna know, Nas is my favourite rapper. To me, he embodies everything that real hip-hop is. That 'I don't give a fuck what anybody else is doing, I'm doing me' attitude. He drops some real knowledge and always speaks the truth about real issues, but the real beauty of him as an artist is that he isn't without his faults. He has followed trends and he has attempted to drop them crossover records but can acknowledges his mishaps and has once again found that true artist within himself. Plus, he dropped the best album hip-hop has ever heard...Illmatic. If you don't agree then go back to class! LOL...

XXL recently put up a couple of interview with Mr. Jackson where he talks about some interesting subjects. In Part 1 he discusses the current two singles, 'I Get Money' and 'Ayo Technology', compared with the original two, 'Amusement Park' and 'Straight To The Bank'. Also, the struggle he faces balancing the two types of fans needs and what they expect from him. One thing he does mention, that got me thinking back, is the mixtape 2050 Before The Massacre he put out before The Massacre. This mixtape was killer, it was exactly what the album should've been and was far better than the actual album. When I find it I'll up it for you in case you haven't got it already.

In Part 2 he gives Kanye a couple of nudges, the deal with Interscope, Koch Records and the issues that face G-Unit at present.

Chingy: "It Was The Label's Fault"

Oh right.

Aparently, the reason behind Chingy's last album, Hoodstar, flopping is because of the label he was with, Capitol Records. In a recent interview with Billboard he is quoted as saying:

"I don't think Capitol really knew how to work urban artists. They're really stuck on pop and they didn't know how to market me. I ain't knocking them because that's where I started. I'm glad I'm off the label."

So it had nothing to do with the fact that you made a horrible album. To be fair to Chingy, he did have one of the biggest songs of last year with the Tyrese assisted 'Pullin' Me Back', which helped him push to Gold. Still, this is far from the standards he set when he was part of Ludacris' collective, Disturbing The Peace, with his debut album Jackpot, which went three times platinum. I assume this is the reason that Chingy went back to Luda recently with his tail between his legs.

On the subject of the truce with Luda he says:
"Our reconciliation started last year at the Billboard Awards in Las Vegas. The whole situation was a misunderstanding because no one ever really talked [it] through. And as the days went on, it got worse. So, we settled it all at the Billboard Awards and left all of the differences in that room."
Chingy's currently features on 'Celebrity Chicks' the first single from the upcoming DTP album, "Strength in Numbers," due September 18th. He is already in the studio working on his new album Hate It Or Love It, which will be released via Island Def Jam and has features from Ludacris, Lil' Wayne, Rick Ross, Justin Timberlake and Rihanna.

Video: 50 Cent Ft. Justin Timberlake - Ayo Technology

Finally, the much anticipated video from 50 Cent for 'Ayo Technology' featuring Justin Timberlake and produced by Timbaland. The song is sure to do well for 50, but it sounds much more like a Justin song than 50, possibly something from FutureLoveSexSound. The video was shot over in London while they where both touring in England, and it apparently cost well over a million dollars to make.

"You can see this is not [my] more normal uniform, or get-up, when I'm in a music video. But it's time for me to do something a little different, and this is the perfect time for me to actually change my look. You might see this on the red carpet, but not in an actual music video."

50 on his flow:

"I don't usually use that cadence. The beat is a lot faster, so I changed up the way I traditionally rap on the record. The chorus just came to [Justin] and I was like, 'OK, OK, I got it.' Creatively, it all came together."

50 on the recording process:

"We failed to complete it the first night 'cause Justin and Timbaland were both on tour. We recorded the first version, the intro to the song, and then I flew back to L.A., caught up with them in Houston. So when I got to Houston we got back to the studio and it was like 1-2-3. Justin had it clear in his head. There was no paper: He just went and elivered his vocals and changed octaves all over the place. It came out great — you can't ask for better."

Fresh on the heels of Pimp C's recent comments, UGK's latest album is set to be released next week under intense scrutiny. MTV just caught up with Kanye West to discuss the 'Hottest MC's In The Game' list. They asked him how he felt about his position in the top 5, but more interestingly got him to produce his own countdown.

Cam'ron on 'Leave Me Alone'

Whilst listening to the recent interview Brooklyn OG Calvin Klein conducted, in which he attempted to expose Jay-Z, one point stood out for me. This was the part where he mentioned that Jay had never let MTV in to film his crib and that we never get a good look at his personal wealth. The main reason this appealed to me is because the rest of the interview didn't; I really don't buy it when all these people from your past 'all of a sudden' have something to say when they gotta promote something.

Anyway, that part he said about Jay is indeed true. Unlike other artists who, when they make a bit of money, are quick to open their doors for the infamous MTV expose, he has always refused. He is not alone, as many other artists we have never seen on there and are not likely to. To be honest, I respect Jay for this because it would be so easy for him to showcase his opulence and put these other dudes to shame.

Jay-Z has always been a private person when it comes to his personal life, which in this day and age of hip-hop fuelled by bragadoccia, is a rarity. MTV Cribs provides an excellent platform for artists to show off their latest house, car or woman. It has got to a stage now where it is part of hip-hop; the whole notion of showing the fans what their hard earned money has been spent on. Don't get me wrong, I totally respect Jay's need for privacy but I'm as guilty as the next person in that I love to see what these guys have so I compare it with another rapper (and get jealous).

Down the years Cribs has certainly shown us some amazing properties. I remember the first time I saw Master P's crib back in the day, shortly after he had just made that fortune with No Limit. He had the Scarface-esque TV set-up, the huge chandeliers, the ginormous fish tank in the bedroom and the marble swimming pool. Then there was Cash Money's party house showcased by Baby and a very little Lil' Wayne, which I remember had about 5 limos outside. More recently we had Russell and Kimora's modern day version of the super mansion with the lavish dining room complete with gold-leafed ceilings and their own re-working of the a famous movie theatre. They have since sold the mansion for a whopping $23.5 million since their divorce last year.

Along with the houses, MTV Cribs has also provided us with some memorable hip-hop moments too. From Wu Tang's pool jumping competition at their mansion in the Hollywood hills to Trick Daddy's quotables filled episode at his Miami home ("If you do the number two, use wet ooooones") to Big Boi's 'Boom Boom Room'. Then there was Jay-Z's scene stealing moment in Ja Rule's episode, in which Jay pulled up to Ja's crib in a huge speedboat with about 30 women on, all whilst throwing up the diamond.

Here's the first two tracks from Havoc's debut solo album, Kush, set to be released September 18th.

After a less than successful debut on G-Unit Records with Blood Money, many people began questioning whether the Mobb had fallen off. To be honest with you though, the project was destined to fail before they even dropped the record. The hate had swelled to breaking point for the duo instantly after the deal with 50 was announced and they became the unfortunate bearer's of the large backlash against G-Unit at the time.

This is not to say that Blood Money was the Mobb's best album to date, it was far from it. For me though, the highlight of the album was seeing how Havoc had developed as an MC and was superior to Prodigy on the majority of the tracks. However, with P's recent release outside of the G-Unit umbrella, Return Of The Mac, faith was partially re-installed in his ability.

With the release of these tracks from Havoc's upcoming LP, I'm definately anticipating its release. He has always been one of my favourite producer's in the game and he doesn't disappoint with the production on these two songs. The Kush is entirely produced by Havoc and is described as “dark and gutter” by the Queensbridge MC.

Lil' Wayne: "Everybody Else Stop Rapping"

Shortly after crowning Weezy F. Baby with the 'Hottest Rapper In The Game' title, MTV sat down with him to gather his reaction and find out more about his upcoming project. I've picked out the best parts from the interview where he discusses working with Kanye, developing as an artist, being on everybody's tracks, his recording process and more.

Wayne is really embracing those comments 50 made about him being a 'whore' in this interview, saying that everybody should want to work with the best. I'm still not buying the whole 'I don't write my lyrics down' that all these dudes be coming out with. I found it interesting listening to him talk about 'finding himself', because alot of people just assume that he's taken on other people's styles.

MTV: Everyone talks about your evolution from just a few years ago. When exactly did you find yourself artistically?
Lil Wayne: Man, when everybody was gone. Everybody had left [Cash Money Records], [I] had studio time. I walk in there, just me and the engineer with beats. That's how you gotta find yourself. 'Cause I know I can't do a song like "Back That Azz Up." That's [Juvenile's] style. I can't do no "Cash Money Millionaire," that's Baby. What can I do for me? "Straight off the block" [a verse from "Tha Block Is Hot"]. That's how.I found myself at 14, though. My first solo album, [Tha Block Is Hot,] I was 14. Fortunately. ... You gotta find yourself in life, period. Once you know who you are, man ... I always tell people the only thing that makes my raps good is 'cause I rap about what I am. I got "reality rap." I already tested it, man, my truth is so damn good, why would I ever lie? This is my real truth. [When] I leave [this interview], you can follow me with a camera; I do whatever I want.
MTV: You've been working with Kanye West, another one of the hot MCs on our list. You guys recently performed in New York together, but what's a session with the two of you like? Obviously you're sharing ideas, but you have arguably the best producer in the game right now with arguably the hottest rapper in the game right now.
Lil Wayne: The session was mostly like [West] playing a piece for me, giving these ideas and stuff. He gets here, plays one, tells me the idea for that one. Then it'll be about a few minutes later, then to another one. That's really a session with him. I just gathered all the music and went back to my cave and done what I have to do to it.
MTV: So right now it's looking like 2008 for the album ...
Lil Wayne: I wanna sell 5 million records, man. That's my goal. Five million, I'm gonna go crazy. No more interviews after that, Jack. I'm going bananas. ... Nah, I'm just playing.
MTV: When you're in that booth, we know that you don't write the records down ...
Lil Wayne: Nope. I'd be ... on another different level to be composing anything in my head right now. So I just go in there and make a song up. If I have a concept for something, it's much easier. But I go in there ... [with] just a little beat; [I start thinking,] "What go to that?" I like to make it up right there. Nobody standing behind the mic, everybody just wondering what I'm thinking about. I say, "I'm ready." Then I'll say, "Four more bars, stop ... all right, I'm ready."
MTV: When we talked last year, it was sort of like you had an undercurrent with the fans and the industry like, "Naw, maybe Wayne could be the hottest right now. He's doing his thing." But now, not even a year later, you're like the unanimous, hands-down champ, so to speak.
Lil Wayne: What do I think about that? I told you so. I'm gonna keep telling you. I be trying to remind y'all. Look at what you said. You just said what I told you a year ago, and today [it's] almost a unanimous decision. But don't forget: [Tha Carter II] ain't been out there in two years, now you're crowning me. Scary. ... Be scared. Please do. I'm scared for you.I don't know what they're gonna do when the [next] album drops. Y'all probably gonna say, "Everybody else, stop rapping." I told y'all a long time ago and y'all just started hearing what I'm saying. Y'all was always hearing me, but y'all wasn't listening. Now y'all listening. I been saying I was the best [since] I was 14. I knew I was the best; I probably wasn't at that time — but I knew. I'm 24. What were you doing at 24? Me, I'm 12 years in.
MTV: The thing that everybody has appreciated about you is that although you've been on so many songs, nobody's tired of you. Usually after the 116th guest appearance, people get a little weary of an artist. But everybody wants to hear even more of you.
Lil Wayne: I done became a little virus now, 'cause everybody be having me on their song. I was just about to be on [T.I. vs. T.I.P.]. I wanted to be on it bad, and they pulled me, 'cause I guess I be on everything. But hey, if you make everything you do great, like I do ... no lie, man. It's like, "You want Michael Jordan on your team?" "Hell yeah! Yeah, I want him on my team, stupid." That's how I look at it. That's why I do everything. Now the only problem I get is people calling me saying, "Universal don't wanna clear it." And [the record company] and I do everything.
MTV: What's the last thing you turned down? You remember?
Lil Wayne: The sheets on my bed. Like the hotel, turn down service. Nah, I don't turn down nothing.

"I'm The Air Jordan Of Vitamin Water..."

"I take quarter water sold it in bottles for 2 bucks, Coca-Cola came and bought it for billions, what the f**k?"

We've been hearing about it everywhere recently, most recently in the street smash 'I Get Money'; 50 Cent's apparent windfall from the sale of Glacéau, a company he owns a 10% stake in, to Coca-Cola. Figures regarding 50's earnings from the deal range from anywhere from $400 million to $100 million, depending on who you believe. Either way, he's a very rich man.

50 Cent was initially offered a stake in the privately held company, Glacéau, after they had seen him holding a bottle in one of his adverts for Reebok. Since accepting the offer he has gone on to make his own grape flavoured, vitamin enriched water, called Formula 50.

He recently sat down with a writer from USA Today to discuss his partnership with Glacéau and the marketing sense behind the product. Check the interview below.

Q: Glacéau recruited you because they saw that you drank their water. How did you discover it?
A: I came across it in a gym in Los Angeles.

Q: You even recently closed a song at the BET Awards singing, "VitaminWater, VitaminWater." Why so pumped up?
A: I wouldn't be a part of it if it wasn't part of my lifestyle. I travel a lot, so I'm health conscious, but I get tired of drinking so much water. It's perfect for me — they do such a good job making water taste good.

Q: Does drinking the water make you more credible?
A: Consumers watch us on the red carpet. They see jewellery, and they know it's going right back (to the jeweller who loaned it). It's not real. If it's part of your lifestyle, they have a stronger passion.

Q: Are you selling Glacéau or 50 Cent?
A: A little bit of both. It's impossible not to. You can't escape who I am as an artist.

Q: In the TV ad, you appear to conduct the orchestra. Did you really do that?
A: They knew what to do. If I gave them a wrong gesture, they just knew to keep going.

Q: Since Coca-Cola now owns Glacéau, will you be promoting other Coke products?
A: I'm not sure other products would translate the same with my listeners because it may not be as real. Glacéau has allowed me to customize my own flavor and do different things with the campaign. Major companies usually lock in and use executives to come up with ideas before an artist or endorser is involved.

Q: You're still under contract to endorse VitaminWater. What's next with that?
A: More VitaminWater promotion. I'm excited about it because they allow my input. I'm more closely associated with VitaminWater than anyone. I'm the Air Jordan of VitaminWater.

You've gotta love the interviewer's complete and utter obliviousness to the fact 50 put on the worst performance of his career at the BET Awards. He has no idea that 50's performance was his laziest ever, purely on the fact he didn't care. He had just made all that money from the deal and was in acceptance of his horrible performance, that's the reason for the 'Vitamin Water' comment at the end.

Lil' Wayne To Star In The Simpsons?

Fresh from getting the news that he is the 'Hottest MC In The Game', Lil' Wayne has recieved word that he has been chosen to star in a new episode of The Simpsons.

Apparently, Wayne has been chosen because of the large similarity between the close relationship he and his 'Daddy' (Baby) share with the shows own father and son duo, Homer and Bart. It is rumoured that the episode will be set in New Orleans and that will focus on bringing 'love' back to the hurricane-stricken area. It has not been confirmed yet whether Bart and Homer will share their first on-screen kiss as an homage to their guest stars.

The Greatest Rapper Alive?

After much deliberating, by fans and critics alike MTV has the final 5 MC's in their 'Hottest MC's List'. I think it was obvious from the get-go who was gonna be placed at the top of that list, but how the others would fit in was a mystery. Anyway, check the list...

With my predictions I got four out of five of the MC's in the list, just not in the right order. The one MC I didn't get and find hard to believe is in there is Andre 3000. Now, I've read what MTV's reasons are and yeah I've heard the records he's been on recently but to be number 4, I'm not convinced. He's been on a handful of tracks in the last year, mainly remixes, which have left people calling for his return to rapping. I think Andre 3000 is a hot MC, but to be top 5 it takes more than spitting on a couple of remixes, I'm needing more than that to place him in my top 5. Just my opinion people...

Throwback Video

Check out this old footage of 50 Cent freestylin' taken back in 1999 before he was shot. Watching this definately puts it into perspective just how much 50 changed post-shooting. There's a noticeable transition between his Power Of The Dollar flow and his Get Rich Or Die Trying flow, as well as a prominent difference in the sound of his voice.

Kanye West: "I'll Rip Any MC Out"

I just got through listening to the new interview Kanye did with DJ Semtex. It's quite a long interview and I've summarised the main points below, but it's well worth listening to as he discusses alot of different issues.

"I think it was cool, I don't have nothing to hide. One thing about my whole style, it's not a gimmick. Every extra bit of truth that comes out is even better for me."

Kanye on beefing with people:

"It's impossible for people to beef with me, 'cos I'll just call them and be like 'so, what's going on man, let's go to Disney World an hang out or go to the movies or something'. I just don't do that."

Really good interview with Semtex this was, definitely worth checking out. I just respect the passion that dude has for making music, it's so evident just listening to him talk and describe making music.
